Hello papercrafters :)

Hey everyone, this is my first blog post!

In the past, I have posted some of my projects on other social platforms but thought it was finally time to properly document my projects and actually explain the process I use. I hope to post projects on at least a fortnightly basis, but we will see how that goes...

I should probably introduce myself, my name's Shanika and paper crafting is my hobby! I love making cards and explosion boxes. I also dabble in other crafts from time to time. I have been paper crafting for several years now but have only recently decided to create a blog about it. #explosion box #tutorial Hey everyone, so in the past I've been asked by quite a few people about how I make my explosion boxes, especially the dimensions I use. I usually make explosion boxed with 3 layers, so that is the one I will be showing you step by step how to make. For the basic structure you will need: 12 x 12 inch cardstock (outer layer) 11 1/2 x 11 1/2 inch cardstock (middle layer) 11 x 11 inch cardstock (inner most layer) 7 1/16 x 7 1/16 inch cardstock (lid) 1) For each of the 'layers' you need to score at 4 inches from the edge of the cardstock. 2) Now you will need to cut off the four corner squares for each layer (note these cutouts should be 4 x 4 inches). 'A galactic thank you' - card

#galaxy #mists #space Hi everyone! So the last month has been a very stressful and intense time (probably the most stressful in my uni life so far), but I have finally submitted my honours thesis! Yay! So I can get back to papercrafting guilt free! So I'm making some thank you cards for some of the people that got me through this stressful year, and given that they do astrophysics I thought I'd make them 'galaxy' themed! :) I used a 12 x 12 piece of white cardstock and sprayed it with different coloured iridescent mists (blue, teal, pink and purple) and let this dry for about 15 minutes. Then I mixed some white paint and white iridescent mist and flicked dots of this mixture onto the same piece of cardstock to look like stars! I let this cardstock sit for a few hours to make sure the white dots were dry. The next step was to prepare all the pieces needed for the card. 'Summer travels' - double layout

#havana nights #summer #challenge Hey everyone! So January is almost over... imagine how fast the rest of the year will go by?! Well, I intend to document the best moments of the year, which means more scrapbooking practice for me! So I thought this month's 'double layout' challenge by Kaisercraft was the best way to get started. I used the papers and collectables from Kaisercraft's 'Havana nights' collection. I tend to use darker, more neutral colour schemes for my projects, so I thought that using this collection would challenge me to use brighter colours. For the base of the layout, I used two sheets of white cardstock. Using the tiled pattern paper I cut out five segments, and then I adhered these segments to the two pieces of white cardstock as shown below.
