'Thankful - Grateful - Blessed' - layout

#peachy #thankful #brick wall Hi everyone, hope all your papercrafting is going well! So back in January I went to Japan 2 weeks, it was an amazing experience! I'm slowly getting around to scrapbooking them. So here's a layout I did using a brick wall design . *** For the base of this layout I used a 12 x 12 inch plain cardstock and for the brick wall pattern I used a 12 x 12 inch patterned paper. To create the brick wall paper use this linked tutorial . After completing steps 1-4 of the tutorial you should have a base layout that has a brick wall pattern. Note: The above tutorial was created after this layout was created. If you can find what's a bit wrong with this layout comment down below! If you follow the tutorial you should get a seamless looking brick wall layout :) The next step is to make the frames to go on this wall.  First I cut out two sentiments (one rectangle and one square) from a 12 x 12 piece of patterned paper (the sentiment page from...

Brick wall layout - tutorial

#bricks #brick layout #tutorial Hi everyone, so I didn't upload a craft project last week since I was attending an astronomy/astrophysics conference. Had a wonderful time in Brisbane, but the conference was a bit mentally exhausting, so time to do some craft blogging! I have started doing more layouts lately (it's definitely an area I need work on) and one of the designs I had in mind was a brick wall layout. In this tutorial, I will be describing the process to create brick wall layout. *** For this layout you will need: 12 x 12 inch plain cardstock (for the base) 12 x 12 inch patterned cardstock (for the brick pattern) *** Step 1 Cut the patterned piece of paper into horizontal strips that are 1 7/8 inches in width. You should have 6 strips plus some excess, you will not need this excess piece of paper for the brick layout design. Make sure to keep the strips in order! Note: For the next steps we will be working with centimetres rather than i...

'Summer travels' - double layout

#havana nights #summer #challenge Hey everyone! So January is almost over... imagine how fast the rest of the year will go by?! Well, I intend to document the best moments of the year, which means more scrapbooking practice for me! So I thought this month's 'double layout' challenge by Kaisercraft was the best way to get started. I used the papers and collectables from Kaisercraft's 'Havana nights' collection. I tend to use darker, more neutral colour schemes for my projects, so I thought that using this collection would challenge me to use brighter colours. For the base of the layout, I used two sheets of white cardstock. Using the tiled pattern paper I cut out five segments, and then I adhered these segments to the two pieces of white cardstock as shown below. I used foam tape to adhere all of the photos to add dimension. I cut out some vellum squares using a stitched square die and adhered them behind the largest photo. I also cut from vellum f...

'Life is beautiful in focus' - layout

#lilac #kaisercraft #scrapbook layout So, it has been a while since I last posted, but I hope to post a few projects before the end of the month. I had a few photos lying around so I thought I'd make a scrapbook layout. Kaisercraft's 'Lilac Whispers' collection is just gorgeous and I thought it was perfect to use for photos I had. I only used a few materials for this layout to keep it simple and not overpower the soft and delicate colours. I splatted a mix of purple, blue and grey mists diagonally across the background of the layout. I used some of the leftover mist mixture to paint the edges of some of the collectables to help make them stand out a little more. To add some dimension to the layout I added some foam tape behind the smaller photo and behind the leaves. I thought it would be interesting to create a layout with two of the same photo, except with one photo in focus and the other blurred. I think it brings some interest to the layout and helps conv...

'Dare to travel' - photo layout

#kaisercraft #ubud dreams #challenge Hey everyone, so here is a project I did before I had this blog up and running. The 'Ubud dreams' collection is just gorgeous, it was my favourite paper collection to date until 'Indigo skies' came along... Kaisercraft just keeps outdoing themselves! I actually submitted this photo layout to Kaisercraft's January blog challenge (and won!) My photo taking skills have improved since then so I decided to share some of the details of the project. It was a bingo challenge and I picked the line 'stitching, confetti pocket, printed papers only, typed journaling'. I thought it would be fun to make the doors 'open' on the layout to reveal a message. I used two 3 x 2 inch pieces of plastic and stuck one edge to the outer edge of the pocket rectangle, and the inner edges to the door. I added some rose gold brads for the door knobs. Check out my instagram to see it in action!  I also used a few diff...

'Thank you for your friendship' - layout

#best friend #cherry tree lane #scrapbook layout So up until this point I have been a card/explosion box making papercrafter... but now I think it is time to expand my horizons and dive into the world of scrapbooking, so here is my very first scrapbook layout! :) Lately I've seen some amazing scrapbook layouts that are just so inspiring so I decided to give scrapbooking a go! I am very new to this but I am determined to make my own scrapbook. I actually ended up making this because my best friend suggested it. She saw the papers and collectables from Kaisercraft's Cherry tree lane collection, she selected a few of them and demanded that I use them for her and only for her! XD I decided to layer two of the same photo slightly offset, one in colour and one in sepia, I thought it would add some interest to the layout. I really wanted to highlight the blue tones in the photo so I picked embellishments and paper that had little hints of blue. I ripped a few papers to c...
